4 Unique Workshops to choose from – take just one, or take them all!

Week 1: Soulcollage

Soulcollage presents an instigating and surprising technique for self-exploration.

  • Life is about changes
  • Uncover our strengths and talents
  • Be surprised by our potentialities
  • Empower ourselves

This workshop is designed for individuals who enjoy visual self-exploration and the writing  process and also wish to:

  • Undergo a self-exploration process
  • Be surprised by the different possibilities of being
  • Share and learn from others

What can attendees expect to gain from the workshop?

  • Create collages using pictures from different sources on 5” x 8” cards
  • Process the cards by writing about the images. In this exercise, there is a sense of dramatization, of theatre. We talk about ourselves through the images
  • Create personal and unique cards – no one will ever do the same card.
  • Understand that we all have the answers to the questions we ask inside of ourselves

Week 2: Zoom Book

This workshop is an exercise where we reflect on life while being in the moment and projecting the future.

  • Explore different possibilities and perspectives through images
  • Explore the creation of different life stories; where we are and where we can go
  • Reflect on personal dynamics
  • Think about the strategies and alternatives we have in front of us to reach our goals and dreams
  • Develop an “out of the box” style of thinking

This workshop is designed for individuals who wish to:

  • Challenge oneself in reflecting about personal dynamics and how it impacts his/her life and relationships
  • Deepen critical thinking
  • Envision different strategies to put in place
  • Make changes in life

Week 3: Partner Drawing

This workshop explores communication in a non-verbal way. See what happens when we draw with a partner without speaking.

  • Most of our communication happens is not verbal
  • Bring to the table how we behave through this hands-on exercise
  • Learn to negotiate the space by drawing together
  • Give and receive feedback as we work together

This workshop is designed for individuals who wish to:

  • Challenge oneself in reflecting about personal dynamics and how it impacts his/her life and relationships

Week 4: Ripped Off Collage

This workshop demonstrates a technique to addresses changes and flexibility.

  • Learn to let go of things that are not working for us in life
  • Envision possibilities and new images for our lives

This workshop is designed for individuals who wish to:

  • Undergo a self-exploration process
  • Be surprised by the different possibilities of being
  • Enjoy visual exploration
  • Learn about the process of deconstruction and re-reconstruction

  • Draw a picture and undergo a process of deconstruction and reconstruction of this image
  • Reflect on the exercise and the reaction in doing it
  • Let go of criticism and judgment
  • Think about the innumerous possibilities in creating new images within the reconstruction process – that is a parallel of life experiences

Meet our experts

Marise Zimmerman

Marise Zimmermann, ATR-BC is an artist-photographer and an art therapist. She graduated in art therapy from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, IL. She has extensive experience in art therapy, and she was the supervisor of the Expressive Arts Therapy Department at the John Muir Behavioral Health Center for 13 years.

She has exhibited her artwork in the US, Brazil, and Mexico. Her photograph “Shadows” was the picture of the week at National Geographic Your Shot on the week of April 12, 2019.

Her work focuses on developing new ways to look at ourselves and in creating new possibilities, strategies, and perspectives in order to reframe our internal dialogue and to empower ourselves.
