Dr. Alan Brast has been a healthcare professional for over four decades. His primary areas of expertise include suicidology, medical hypnotherapy/analysis, grief and emotional trauma counseling for suicidal ideation, rape, emotional and physical abuse, dread disease anxiety, phobia disorders and other areas of medical/psychological trauma. He has expertise in crisis management and facilitates hospital support groups for cancer patients.

Dr. Brast lectures locally and world wide. His patient focus is to help patients manage and eliminate their trauma induced anxieties, rid themselves of anticipatory worrying, and bring high quality back into their lives.

Dr. Brast volunteers significant amounts of time for community education, the Wounded Warriors Project (playing guitar and singing for seriously ill hospital patients), and teaching new volunteers for the Contra Costa Crisis Center.

When not working, he loves hiking, playing pickle ball, and bike riding as well as playing his guitar and trumpet. He and his wife Fran have travelled extensively and love meeting people of other cultures. They have three daughters and six grandchildren.
