Katie Craft is a Certified Child Life Specialist with over seven years of professional experience helping children, adolescents, and families navigate many different types of healthcare challenges and times of transition through therapeutic play, expressive activities exploring understanding and feelings about a new diagnosis, creating behavior plans for medication or healthcare routines, preparing for doctor or clinic appointments, and more. Katie has lived with type one diabetes for nineteen years and personally understands the literal and figurative highs and lows of living with chronic disease.

Katie graduated from the University of Georgia and obtained her Child Life certification after training at Memorial Health, Vessels of Mercy Clinic in Honduras, and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland. She integrates her trainings in motivational interviewing and trauma-informed care into her Child Life practice.

An avid traveler, Katie has visited 27 countries, and loves exploring and learning about new places and cultures. A favorite destination was hiking the Erte Ale active volcano in the Afar region of Ethiopia. Katie also plays guitar, piano, and loves to create art of all kinds.
